Wematter continues to expand and gears up to increase production capacity. For this, an on-site COO was needed. Joakim Öfverström took on this challenge in May 2022. And we took his pulse to get to know him better!
What is your role at Wematter?
I am employed as COO (Chief Operating Officer), meaning I am responsible for strengthening the company’s operational capabilities. This includes developing, producing, and delivering the company’s products. The responsibility extends to developing the physical environment of our offices and facilities, including work environment improvements.
What is your professional background?
To make a long story short, I have worked with operational assignments since I graduated from Linköping University. I have been managing Production, Operations, Quality, Acquisitions, Logistics, and Sustainability. Before Wematter I managed a Group Function responsible for optimizing the entire supply chain by developing methods and processes aimed at improving the quality and logistics at the factories, as well as their operational efficiency. I was also the quality manager of the company.
What do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends. I’m also a passionate clay shooter, and practice rifle shooting in preparation for the upcoming hunting season.
What made you want to work at Wematter?
Primarily to participate in the continuous building of the company. Wematter is an exciting, vigorous, and target-oriented startup that is about to begin mass producing its self-developed 3D printer, which I find most exciting. Of course, the high-tech level of the company also appealed to me.
The core values of Wematter are Respect, Pioneering, Harmony, and Sustainability. Which is your favorite, and why?
My favorite is Sustainability. The very purpose of the Wematter products is to enable customers to reduce their total climate footprint.
