Powder management in additive manufacturing may differ depending on the technology used. Wematter’s 3D-printer Gravity utilizes the technology Selective Laser Sintering (SLS). This method uses a high power laser to fuse particles of a material to the final print.
You place the material in the form of a powder in a build chamber and forms a so-called powder bed. When the laser beam has fused all the particles, the chamber cools down so that the prints can be taken out for further processing.
This process thus involves powder handling before printing and when the machine has completed the prints. Download our overview here to learn more about how Wematter handles this during the printing process.
